As a new client of our Veterinary Hospital in La Jolla, you can expect our full attention to your pets’ needs.
When you arrive for your appointment, you will be greeted warmly and checked into our computer system. One of our highly-trained veterinary technicians will then usher you into an examination room.
In most cases, one of our veterinary technicians will start by obtaining your pet’s weight, temperature, and respiratory rate. We may also begin asking about your pet’s medical history, current condition, and the reason for your visit, gathering data for the doctor.
Then, one of our veterinarians will examine your pet, ask you further questions and discuss the physical exam findings followed by the presentation of a “treatment plan.” This is a great time to ask questions. Our veterinary team wants to make sure you’re completely comfortable with the information we’re providing. Before any diagnostics are run or any treatments are performed, the technician will go over what the treatment plan will cost in absolute detail so that you understand exactly what we recommend and why. After you decide what you would like to move forward with, we will complete the items on the treatment plan while you wait privately in one of our exam rooms.
After the treatments and diagnostics are performed, the technician will come back to the exam room and wrap things up. This includes providing you with helpful pet care information, answering wellness and care questions for you, reviewing the pet’s “report card” from the day’s visit, and if necessary, reviewing all medications.
The technician will then process your payment and schedule any needed follow-up appointments in the exam room. Concluding the appointment in the exam room ensures that you and your pet have our undivided attention until the very last moment of your experience.
Please note: Our goal is to see all our clients and patients on time, and although we have contingencies for emergencies, there will be times where the unexpected will create delays. We will ensure these are minimized as much as possible.
We are excited to meet you and your human and animal family members!
